2022 Isuzu MU-X Towing Capacity
I have always been a fan of the MU-X and often see it on the road towing big vans. With the 3.0 litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, it puts out 140kW and 450Nm. Being the same engine as the D-Max it can be a bit noisy, but regardless it makes a good Tow Vehicle. So what are the towing weights like?

Here are some numbers based on the following assumptions:
Vehicle: 2022 Isuzu MU-X LS-T Towing Capacity
Max Towing Capacity: 3500Kg
Caravan: Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) of 3100Kg

| Reduced Max Towing Capacity | 3100 | If the MUX is fully loaded, the Max Towing Capacity of 3500kg is over the GCM of 5900 Kg by 400kg. (GVM 2800kg + 3500Kg = 6300Kg) This means the max you can tow before reaching GCM is only 3100kg. |
So what are the options?
This isn’t too bad as you need to determine how much you carry in the car and a 3100Kg Van is a big van. If you need a full load and a larger van, then the only real option for the MU-X is to add a GVM Upgrade. Although this may not increase your GCM (check State Laws), and therefore reduce your tow capacity (assuming fully loaded to upgraded GVM). The increase in GVM will give you an additional payload for the vehicle. It’s a balancing act.
Be careful though. The payload includes accessories like bull bars, roof racks, spotlights, fridges, dual batteries etc. Just adding a bull bar and a second battery can use 100kg to 125kg of your payload.
